Seeking Freelance Designer

For Immediate Hire / In-Studio Position Based in NYC


Position Description

We are seeking a freelance designer to collaborate on upcoming identity and exhibition projects. The term would be March 5—June 1, 2018. The ideal candidate would be comfortable with diverse media including print, digital, and spatial graphic design. Our studio environment is ideal for close collaboration and provides an opportunity for leadership and initiative. We emphasize a context where good ideas and work are respected and implemented. Additionally, you should have a passion for social context and be invested in improving visual culture by shaping a narrative of inclusion.


Clear and thoughtful approach to content
Exceptional type, color, and composition skills
Obsessive attention to detail
Comfort with diverse media and software
Desire to rethink what design could be


Sketch concepts by hand or in Adobe programs
Prepare benchmarking and concept presentations
Offer critique, new ideas, and research to further design concepts
Create custom typography and artwork
Design book, website, app, and large-scale exhibition layouts

Studio Description

Isometric is a graphic design studio based in New York City working on branding, print, digital, and spatial projects for major institutional clients including the Princeton University, the US Agency for International Development, Soros Fellowships for New Americans, and Columbia University. Combining architectural and graphic design practice, we collaborate with cultural institutions, startups, and nonprofits to reinvent the way they present themselves visually and strategically. In particular, the studio advances an ethic of inclusion, equality, and progress, focusing on the voices of underrepresented or marginalized populations.


Term  March 12–June 1, 2018
Hours  10am to 6pm (M–F)
Pay  Starting at $3000/mo., depending on experience
