Visual identity, film titles, and marketing materials for a documentary about parental incarceration

Growing Up with a Parent in Prison

Tre Maison Dasan is an intimate portrait of three boys growing up, each with a parent in prison. Narrated directly through the children’s perspective, the documentary is a visceral exploration of separation, masculinity, and coming of age when a parent is behind bars. Isometric designed the film’s titles and comprehensive marketing materials, including educational materials that examine the traumatic consequences of the carceral state. The visual identity combines hand-lettering with construction paper and photo cutouts to represent the struggle to maintain childhood innocence amidst parental incarceration. The documentary has received major international accolades and was broadcast nationally as part of PBS’ Independent Lens series.
