Visual identity for Princeton University’s interdiscplinary center for environmental research and education
Environmental engagement across disciplines
The new visual identity positions Princeton Environmental Institute as a world-class center of interdisciplinary environmental research, education, and outreach. The design unifies the work of over 120 associated faculty from 29 academic departments with a simple, identifiable monogram, making PEI’s mission accessible to diverse audiences. A refined visual system, custom photography, and illustrative patterns signal an intellectual yet urgent approach to one of the greatest challenges of our time.

Telling the Story of Climate Change
Princeton Environmental Institute posits climate change as a direct result of the unequal distribution of resources and the unequal effects of reckless action. A cross-disciplinary effort that includes engineers, social scientists, humanists, and artists is therefore necessary to imagine new conceptual frameworks and new ways of telling the story of climate change. We therefore developed a public exhibition in the campus center to make 25 years of research and teaching visible to the Princeton community, inviting all members of the community to imagine new ways of engaging with the environment.
