Designing a modular exhibit framework

A/D/O by MINI is a cultural space in Brooklyn devoted to promoting design as a catalyst for social and environmental progress. Isometric was commissioned create a reusable modular framework for temporary exhibitions to showcase ongoing research elegantly. Built with Baltic Birch plywood and steel, each unit is fully-collapsable and pivots in two directions, allowing possibilities for horizontal and vertical displays. Our team also worked on the graphic and exhibition design for the inaugural exhibit entitled At The Border, a research program exploring contemporary boundaries—natural, human, and virtual.

Flexibility for Future Use

The modular exhibition framework is designed to be distinctive yet flexible, allowing orthogonal, as well as organic plan layouts. Additional frames can be added to the system based on future exhibition needs. As a multidisciplinary studio, we were especially interested in creating a framework that would serve as an inspiring canvas for graphic designers, choosing materials that are understated yet elegant.
